Summary
Inspired by African birthing chairs seen on a South African trip, this study softens the original’s angular, supportive stance into a rounded, low seat with a gentle backrest. The aim was to keep functional essence while shifting the form toward contemporary comfort. Hand-shaped pine components and dowel joinery create a compact lounge profile that blends cultural reference with precise craft.
